Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Linda Thomas-Greenfield will travel to San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles, May 30-June 2, 2016.
The Assistant Secretary’s visit will highlight the importance of entrepreneurs, women, youth, and representatives of the diaspora who are creating innovative solutions to some of world’s toughest challenges. She will preview the seventh annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) at Stanford University June 22-24, encourage investment in Africa, and discuss U.S. efforts to promote entrepreneurship in Africa.
The Assistant Secretary will speak with business community representatives, students, entrepreneurs, and the African diaspora. In San Francisco, the Assistant Secretary will participate in a discussion at the World Affairs Council of Northern California on the importance of entrepreneurship in Africa. At the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), she will engage in an entrepreneurship roundtable. In Los Angeles, the Assistant Secretary will engage community and business leaders on the importance of investing in Africa at the Museum of African American Art.
