UPSC ESE Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

  • An applicant must be a citizen of India or Subject of Bhutan & Nepal/Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962.
  • A person of India origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification

A candidate must have obtained a degree in Engineering from a recognized University.

or

Must have passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India).

or

Degree/Diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time.

or

Qualified in Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India)

or

Qualified in Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India.

or

Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.

Maximum and Minimum Age limit

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 Years

Note: Upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to reserved communities/categories.

  • General – Rs. 200/-.
  • Female/SC/ST/PwBD – No Fee.

Selection Process for UPSC ESE Posts

The selection of the applicants will be done on the basis of:

  • Preliminary Exam- 500 Marks
  • Mains Exam- 600 Marks
  • Interview- 200 Marks

All the shortlisted applicants shall have to undergo a detailed Medical Examination.

  • Candidates can download the same from the authorized portal.
  • Read the vacancy details very carefully and apply online for the posts through nic.in.
  • Complete Part 1 of registration process after entering Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Nationality, Marital Status, etc.
  • After receiving the registration ID through email, complete the Part 2 of application process entering other relevant details such as professional, academic, and previous work experience.
  • Upload soft copies of your passport-sized photo and signature and pay the requisite fee.
  • Press the fin al submit button and take a printout of your duly filled application for future references.
