SSC CGL 2020 – 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship Criteria for SSC CGL 2020 – 2021

  • A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India,
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar),Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after, the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/her by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification for SSC CGL 2020 – 2021

  • For Assistant Audit Officer: A Bachelor’s Degree in any subject stream from a recognized University or institute and CA/CS/MBA/Cost & Management Accountant/ M.Com/ Masters in Business Studies (Desirable Qualification).
  • For Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Bachelor’s Degree in any Stream from a recognized institution or University with Statistics as one of the main subjects throughout the degree course.
  • For Junior Statistical Officer: Bachelor’s Degree programme in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with minimum of 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level or Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
  • For other Posts: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent. The candidates  appearing  in  the final  year  of  their  graduation  can also apply

Age Limit

The minimum age limit is 18 years while the upper age limit is 27-32 years (Varies post-wise, kindly refer to the table given above).

Application Fee:

  • For General and OBC Candidates: Rs. 100/-
  • For SC/ST/EWS/PH categories: Rs. 0/- (NIL).

Selection Criteria for SSC CGL 2020 – 2021

Applicant’s Selection will be done on the basis of their performance in Tier-1, 2, 3, and 4 Tests.

  • The tier-I test is divided into 4 sections of 25 marks each.
  • The CBT carries 100 questions and each question is 2 marks.
  • The time duration for Tier-I will be 1 hour.
  • There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer.

SSC CGL Tier II Exam Pattern

Qualifiers of will be called to appear in the Tier 2 exam for a Computer Based Examination.

  • 25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in English Language and Comprehension.
  • While there will be a penalty of 0.50 marks for every incorrect answer for other subjects.

SSC CGL Tier 3 Exam Pattern

  • This 100-marks test will be conducted to test contestants’ writing skills and is based on pen and paper.
  • In this descriptive test, candidates be will be given Essays/Precis/Letter/Applications to write in English or Hindi.
  • The total duration of this test will be 1 hour.

SSC CGL Tier 4

The qualifiers of Tier-III will have to undergo the Computer Proficiency Test or Skill Test (wherever applicable) for the posts of Assistant Section Officer of Central Secretariat Service, Assistant Section Officer, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant in the Ministry of Mines. There will be a total of 3 modules:

  • Word Processing,

  • Spread Sheet and
  • Generation of Slides

For other posts a Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) will be conducted for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax). 8,000 Key Depression per hour on Computer is required.

  • Already registered applicants need to login using their user-Id and Password.
  • In Latest Notifications panel, view the SSC CGL Notification and read it very carefully.
  • Select the region where you want to apply.
  • Apply for the test by entering your updated information.
  • Choose the examination center details.
  • Upload a scanned image of your recent passport-sized photograph and signature.
  • Pay the requisite fee by a suitable channel.
  • Verify your form details and submit it afterwards.
  • Generate a hard copy of this application form for future references.
